I grew up in Central Ohio and moved to Phoenix Arizona in the summer of 2004 to study graphic design. My interest in photography dates back to my childhood, but my studies in design and the arts have given me the drive needed to take my work to a professional level. This graphic design background provides a unique sense of composition and color theory in every photograph I take. My passion lies in capturing the gritty details of the world around me, highlighting beauty that often goes unnoticed, and the rail yard provided a perfect canvas.
The Rail Yard series was originally photographed in May 2010 near a boxcar loading station in my hometown of Newark, Ohio. Climbing under box cars, dodging moving trains, and evading security were all part of the process. Rich textures, bold colors, abstract shapes, and hidden typography are key elements of every piece. The collection will continue to expand as photographs from new regions are added.
The Rail Yard series utilizes a unique printing process classified 100% green by the EPA. Each photograph is printed directly on anodized aluminum, providing a unique life-like effect. They capture and reflect the light of their environment, giving off a luminous glow as you walk past. The artwork is floated in a sleek black frame complete with mounting hardware. All pieces in the series are signed, numbered, and limited to 5 prints.
